BICARBONATE, SERUM

Bicarbonate is the largest fraction contributing to the Total carbon dioxide. It is increased in cases of Compensated respiratory acidosis and Metabolic alkalosis. The levels are lowered in cases of Compensated respiratory alkalosis and Metabolis acidosis.
