GFR (GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE),ESTIMATED

The level of GFR is accepted as the best measure of overall kidney function in health and disease. The definition and staging of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) depends on proteinuria and other markers of kidney disease. 2012 KDIGO guidelines recommend using the 2009 CKD-EPI creatinine equation for estimating GFR in adults. The guideline also recommends using serum creatinine and a GFR estimating equation for initial assessment of GFR.
