MEAN CORPUSCULAR VOLUME; MCV

MCV is of great utility in evaluating anemias according to red blood cell size – normocytic / microcytic / macrocytic. In patients with low MCV, RBC count helps to differentiate between iron deficiency anemia & thalassemia.
