PARVOVIRUS B19 ANTIBODY, IgG

Parvovirus B19 is the causative agent of Fifth disease (Erythema infectiosum) which usually produces a mild illness. The virus is also associated with Hydrops fetalis, Aplastic crises and Arthralgia. Detection of IgG antibodies indicates past infection or immunity. IgG antibodies appear soon after onset of illness reaching peak levels by 30 days and may persist for years.
