This test measures the level of Ultrasensitive Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) in the blood. TSH is produced by pituitary gland in the brain & stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones. High level of TSH indicates an underactive thyroid whereas low level is seen in overactive thyroid. If you are a known case of underactive thyroid, this test is done at regular intervals to adjust your dose of medicine.
